Penner Ash Pinot Noir Pas de Nom 2015
Regular price $110.00
The Pas de Nom bottling debuted with the 2007 vintage, I recall, and is a best-barrel blend from multiple sites. The name literally mean "without a name." The wine is rich, dense, and shows the full breadth of pinot personality - ripe flavors with cooler flavors, red fruit and darker fruit, spices and minerals galore, and a voluptuous component married to a more focused component. It's very complex, and stuffed enough that it should age well for at decade or more - but is accessible enough to open any time.
The 2015 Pas de Nom garnered a Vinous 94 Points, with these notes: "Limpid ruby-red. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red berries, cola, incense and vanilla, complemented by a sexy five-spice powder accent and a hint of smokiness. Stains the palate with sweet raspberry liqueur, spicecake, floral pastille and vanilla flavors that become more energetic as the wine stretches out. Shows a compelling blend of power and elegance, revealing no rough edges and delivering an impressively long, floral-tinged finish."
