McKinlay Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2018 - Pinotguy 93 Points

Regular price $21.00
Here's a conversation I have had with more than a few of Oregon's best known winemakers, all of whom make highly regarded, high-end Oregon pinot noir:

Me: What's the best and most underpriced pinot noir in Oregon?
Them: The McKinlay wines, obviously.

That is not a joke. Historically, the McKinlay Pinot Noir Willamette Valley has been our single best-selling bottle due to the amazing combination of high quality and low price. It's an open secret amongst local winos. Winemaker Matt Kinne has steadfastly refused to raise his price over the years, and as a result this wine features the concentration and complexity of wines that cost twice as much. With an hour or two of decanting, this wine is already deliciously approachable and features astounding concentration, a long and layered mid-palate of intense and complex red fruit flavors, and a never-ending, fruitcentric finish buoyed by juicy acidity. It's fantastic now (with decanting), and will only improve with 3-10 years in the cellar. We missed out on the great 2017 version of this wine. Don't miss the stellar 2018 bottling.
