Hundred Suns Pinot Noir Sequitur Reserve 2016 -- Pinotguy 94 Points
Regular price $79.00
Hundred Suns is the bootstrap micro-winery by former Beaux Freres winemaker Grant Coulter and wife Renee Saint-Amour. After nine years in the cellar with Beaux Freres winemaker Mike Etzel, Coulter is now crafting some juicy, richly-fruited wines that are making friends very quickly indeed. Like other past Beaux Freres winemakers, Coulter is moving in his own direction now, and the results are delicious.
Their Sequitur bottling was made with grapes from Etzel's wholly owned Sequitur Vineyard, which is planted to eighteen different clones of pinot Noir. Etzel sold parcels from Sequitur to just a couple of other winemakers in '16. For Hundred Suns, it was turned into their most complex and striking wine from the vintage. Bright, fresh and vigorous fruit flavors dominate the palate in this high-toned and highly complex wine. The flavors are broad, detailed, and notably persistent, with a nearly endless finish that continues to deliver evermore fruit flavors that eventually give way to fine, light tannins. This is awfully good now, but the wine is still a bit young and even focused. Wait a few moths for it to knit together just a bit more before diving in.
