Elevee Pinot Noir Elevee Vineyard 2015 -- Vinous 92 Points
Regular price $55.00
Elevee is the personal project of Tom Fitzpatrick with partner France. Fitzpatrick is a bit of a winemaker's winemaker, with a Masters in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis, and winemaking stints at Hubert Lignier in Burgundy and Napa Wine Company in California. In Oregon, he worked at Hamacher before landing his day job making wine at Alloro in the Willamette Valley.
This wine is from the Elevee Estate Vineyard, in the Dundee Hills. Only a few hundred cases were made. This wine strikes a perfect balance between the ripe and sometimes jammy fruit from the '15 vintage with a freshness and balance that comes from well-measured acidity and super fine tannins. It avoids being gushy, and instead flows across the palate with class, lingering on the expressive, detailed finish. The flavor profile is all Dundee Hills red fruits, but there's an additional step of balance and fine-ness that elevates this wine above other wines in this category.
From Vinous: "Brilliant red. Expressive, mineral-accented red fruit and floral pastille scents, along with hints of five-spice powder and licorice. Sappy, penetrating raspberry and boysenberry flavors smoothly blend depth and nerviness thanks to a core of zesty acidity. The mineral note repeats strongly on the long, appealingly sweet finish, which features fine-grained tannins and an echo of juicy red fruit."
