Hundred Suns Pinot Noir Old Eight Cut 2018 - Pinotguy 93 Points
Regular price $30.00
In just a couple of vintages, micro-producer Hundred Suns has generated a lot of buzz and many loyal followers, including a cadre of OPNC loyalists. It's not hard to figure out why - winemaker Grant Coulter spent nine years at Beaux Freres honing his craft and making some of the best New World pinot noir ever. Now, he and partner Renee Amour are pouring their efforts into their own wine label, and the results are delicious!
This year's Old Eight Cut is redolent with dark red fruits that exhibit remarkable density and layering at this price level. Really, this is stuffed with tons of fruit extract and features very fine tannins and buoyant acidity, and after some time in a decanter it starts to really open up and show great length and detail. It's a rambunctious wine that needs a little air or a few months in the bottle to settle in, and that punches way above it's price point.
