This bottling from Italian star producer Vietti provides a delicious look at the house style, without involving the stratospheric price tags their cru Barolos can fetch. This is a BIG step up from a simple Rosso de Langhe, and is more akin to a baby Barbaresco. The dark, creamy, mineral-laden and savory fruit is quite supple now, and settles onto the palate with real Italian character and just a hint of structure. Made to consume sooner than later, this is a really good expression of Nebbiolo that does not need to age for years and years. It has been my "house wine" while watching that disappointing last couple of episodes of Game of Thrones, and his highly recommended for Italian wine fans who don't want to drop $175 a bottle for Vietti's top-end wines.
